Goodbye Summer

These last couple of days have felt really weird. It's not scorching hot outside anymore, there's an actual breeze now. It's been really nice. Even though it is not officially Fall yet, it is starting to feel like it. Maybe it's the 2 degree drop weather outside or the Halloween decorations that are now being displayed at stores. I don't know what it is, but it is very exciting. I love the summer, my birthday was just a couple of days ago. But there is nothing that I love absolutely more than cold weather.

Back to the 80's

One of my absolute favorite things from the late 70's, 80's were jumpsuits. The first time that I remember seeing a jumpsuit and realizing that I needed one in my wardrobe was during an episode of one of my all-time favorite shows: Three's Company. There was an actress who like many had a date with Jack and she had this electric turquoise jumpsuit with nude heels and I fell in love. I was much younger at the time and jumpsuits weren't really sold in stores like they are now. And now that they are practically everywhere I am trying to get my hands on as many as I can. Jumpsuits are so easy to style and very mom-friendly in my opinion. Whether you wear it on its own or with a cardigan or blazer, it has definitely become one of my wardrobe staples. This is my ode to the 80's jumpsuit. A much modern take but still such a classic piece in fashion history.

Mixing Prints

I have one "go-to" thrift store, that never fails. I almost always find a buried treasure, and I buried in the most literal way possible. While the store is more organized than others, people always leave piles of clothes throughout the racks that makes it more time consuming to go through everything. So I have learned throughout my years of thrifting that patience is key. And with patience is how I found this beautiful floral silk top. I remember buying it without knowing what in the world I would pair it with. See, at that time I would just purchase clothing items without really thinking about how much use I would get out of each one or if I even had something to pair it with. (Now I do.. well, most of the time) But I am so glad that I have this in my wardrobe because it is such a simple yet versatile piece and absolutely perfect for this 100 degree weather that I'm living through in Texas.

Tax Free Weekend

I love shopping, I really do. I see shopping as therapy at times. Some people love to watch television or exercise to unwind. I, on the other hand, love to shop. (Even if it's only window shopping.) But to shop during tax-free weekend- that takes mental preparation. The malls are always jam-packed and a whole lot of patience is a definite requirement for shopping during this weekend. I'm so glad I made it out alive. I wanted to wear something comfortable but cute. So I went for this dress from Topshop. Now I know I previously spoke about showing outfits with thrifted items. And while this isn't technically a thrifted item, I did get it at a great discount from the app Poshmark. I scored this super comfortable and stylish dress for only $10. And that ladies and gentlemen is a victory in my eyes.

DIY Reconstructed Band T-Shirts

This takes me back to middle school. Waaay back to when all I would wear on my days off from school were band t-shirts. HotTopic was where I bought most of my clothes (that of course has changed) but I still have a deep deep love for band t-shirts. So here is a video that I made a while ago showing you guys how I've vamped up my old band t's. Hope you all enjoy!

Have an awesome day!

Hello hello

Hello people of the internet,

My name is Pricila and this is the first official blog post of "ThriftSlapt." I love blogs, I read so many blogs everyday and it inspired me to write one of my very own. I love fashion like so many of you out there, but I don't want to blow my budget on every single outfit. So that is where my love for thrifting comes in. For the past 4 years (or so) I've accumulated a collection of thrifted goodies that I absolutely cannot live without. These treasures (some unique and some pretty basic) have built a pretty eclectic yet "everyday mom-friendly" wardrobe.

Hope you all enjoy! x
